Background

NEI Global is an employee relocation company. They have a portal where employees who are going through a relocation can login and view their benefits, upload receipts, and track progress. NEI was looking for a new “wow” feature that would help employees visualize their relocation timeline, and the steps along the way.

Engagement

Working with a fellow CRi UX Designer/Research, and a CRi Business Analyst, we put together a research plan, met with stakeholders and subject matter experts, conducted workshops to understand pain points and processes, and conducted interviews. From there we began wire framing, mockups, and prototyping. We utilized these prototypes in meetings with subject matter experts and stakeholders. Once designs were finalized, I packaged up the design deliverables and presented them to NEI’s developers. We had open communication with NEI’s developers post-handoff so they could ask us any questions along the way.

Challenges

While interviewing the subject matter experts, we learned that some of their pain points were different than what the stakeholders wanted to solve. We dove into that to see if there was a solution the stakeholders would be interested in. Ultimately, the stakeholders understood the pain points but determined the time was better spent focused on their original goals.
